CLONEX® Overview Advice Rooting Hormone Gel The ultimate rooting compound – relied on by professional and amateur horticulturists the world over to deliver successful propagation. CLONEX hormone gel has successfully been used on billions cuttings proving its track record time and again. Clonex delivers every time because: It is easy to use. It seals cut tissue instantly, eliminating the risk of infection or embolism. It contains rooting hormone at 3,300 parts per million, the full strength required for explosive root development. It is a gel – far safer than liquids or powders because it cannot splash or blow about. Unlike liquids and powders, CLONEX will remain in contact with the stem right through the rooting period. It does not wash off when plants are watered. It works with partner products ROOT RIOT and CLONEX MIST to give young plants the healthiest and most powerful start in life. CLONEX® Mist is easy to use and generates quicker, more vigorous and healthy clones. For best results use with CLONEX® Rooting Gel and Root Riot® propagation cubes. All your cuttings benefit from housing them in a propagator with adjustable ventilation. Instructions for use – Softwood and Semi-Hardwood cuttings Select young growing shoots from your healthiest plants. If possible the growing tips can be sprayed with Clonex® Mist once or twice in the week before cuttings are taken. Cut off shoot tips (1), each with four or five pairs of leaves, and remove the two lower pairs of leaves Always use a clean sharp knife or blade. Make a clean diagonal cut across the base of the cutting just below the lowest leaf node. Pour a small amount of Clonex into a separate container for immediate use. Do not dip cut tissue into the original container, and do not return any unused Clonex as this might contaminate the remaining gel. Immediately dip the cutting into Clonex (2), about 15 mm, then insert the cutting into the propagation medium (3) just deep enough to support the cutting. Spray the new cuttings with Clonex® Mist and place in a propagator. The lid should be down and the vents closed. After 2-3 days spray the cuttings with Clonex® Mist again and open the vents slightly. Check the new roots after a few days – continue mist until the plant is established following potting up. If planting in soil, place soil carefully around the roots to avoid damaging them TOP TIP: The new cuttings should be kept in a covered propagator, and most plant species will thrive with propagation temperatures between 21-24C with the humidity around 90%. After new roots appear your plant will need to be hardened off. Open the propagator slightly to allow a small amount of air in. Increase the amount of opening each day and finally remove the cover completely. When the young plants are growing strongly they can be placed into the larger Rockwool cubes or potted into soil or coco. Place soil carefully around new roots to avoid damaging them.
